“The Estate and its neighboring areas — including Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Glendale, and Glassell Park — were once part of Rancho San Rafael, a vast Spanish land grant given to José María Verdugo, a Californio soldier-turned-rancher: the original Cactus Cowboy. Verdugo was a man who lived on his own terms, with his own style. His was a horseback life of cattle drives, citrus orchards, and wide-open land. He was the first of many gentlemen to ride these hills — men with rough hands and soft hearts.

Our limited-edition Cactus Cowboy candle is reminiscent of the green leaves of California, hay, sandalwood, leather, and tobacco. Its a blend of sweat, saddle, dust, and sun-baked cactus flowers; a tribute to the cowboys of Flamingo Estate, past and present. You can still find Cactus Cowboys riding around L.A. Gone are the horses and saddles (Harvey’s dad Donald drives a classic Mercedes with the license plate: Beverly Hills Cowboy), but what remains is unmistakable: the freedom that comes with confidence."

Flamingo Estate is an idyllic refuge overlooking Los Angeles. The property itself dates back to the 1940s and has been host to one exciting, colorful life after another.
