At the far end of the estate, the air has learned to wait. The West Wing evokes the scent of abandoned rooms and lone-sealed corridors: cold stone, damp plaster, dust-softened wood, and flowers left too long in their vases, collapsing into sweet rot.
Pale light filters through shuttered windows, stirring mineral air and the faint residue of incense, candle soot, and fabric that remembers being touched. Nothing moves, yet nothing feels entirely empty.
